SITE DESCRIPTION -
The intersection of Lancer Drive and and Ager Road is frequently used by pedestrians and lies in Hyattsville Ward 5.
This is in large part because on one side of Ager there is direct access to West Hyattsville Metro Station. Pedestrians cross Ager at many points around Lancer, leading to muddy paths cutting into the station.
Ager is a four lane road. It is in desperate need of a crosswalk and additional lighting. It is a very scary crossing for pedestrians. There is a bus stop on the BLANK side.
With the proposed development around the metro, the traffic on Ager will get worse. Particular attention needs to be paid to places where residents cross Ager Road to get to the metro.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The sight lines are acceptable for traffic on Ager Road. However, improvements are needed for pedestrians.
-Add crosswalk striping across Ager
-Add curb bulbouts? and signalized intersection at Ager
-Add pedestrian island at the median and "Pedestrian crossing" signs in both directions on Ager
-Make sidewalk continuous from intersection to metro - pedestrians must walk on road for part of the route
-Add a bike lane all along Ager in both directions

ACCIDENT HISTORY
According to a State Highway Administration report, in the past 5 years, the intersection has seen the following incidents:
2001 - none
2002 - 1 injury accident
2003 - none
2004 - none
2005 - 1 fatal accident
Total - 1 injury accident & 1 fatal accident = 2 total accidents
