Authorized by the City of Hyattsville Council November 20061. Prepare for Council and Staff consideration by Jan 30, 2007 recommendations from the Sep 06 "Bicycle Friendly Community" workshop to improve bicycling and pedestrian facilities and safety throughout the City. The recommendations would identify priority State, County and/or City intersections, roads and trails that should be addressed, and the general improvements required. It is desired that the recommendations, when appropriate and feasible, be incorporated into the City's street infrastructure work.
2. Prepare for Council and Staff consideration by March 30, 2007 a City action plan that could lead to the City's certification as a "Bicycle Friendly Community."
3. Organize in the Spring and Summer of 2007 volunteer activities that improve the safety of pedestrians and bicycling in the City, such as cleaning the areas used by pedestrians and bicyclists, hosting safety events, and supporting City efforts to obtain support from relevant entities for funding improvements.
