  • Identify and recommend solutions to unsafe intersections or areas
    • Belcrest/Queensbury at Queens Chapel

    • Hamilton/Gallatin at Magruder Park entrance (rumble strips here)
    • Become voice for better enforcement of traffic laws in residential areas
    • Develop a pedestrian focused survey and collect responses from the public (disseminate to community via HOPE, wiki, and other means).

  • Identify a good North-South route through Hyattsville
    • To complement the Artway (an east-west route through city)
    • MNCPPC has had longstanding plans for 40th Avenue, but 42nd is another option
    • Jamestown Road on West side
    • East route should connect to Margruder Park and NW Branch trails
    • Widened sidewalks, bike lanes on or off road

  • Get information and try to be a voice for pedestrians with new construction in and around Hyattsville
    • Metro Construction
    • EYA
      • Rt. 1 and 410 – outside of Hyattsville, but improving this intersection would decrease cut-through traffic on Queensbury

  • Work with Hyattsville Legacy Walking Tour

  • Identify routes unsafe or awkward for strollers

  • Organize a walking survey of neighborhood for current sidewalk and trail. Look for:
    • Presence of sidewalk (verify with maps)
    • Sidewalk width
    • Embedded Tactile Bump tiles on sidewalk cutout ramps (rubber or concrete tiles with raised bumps)
    • Inadequate street lighting
    • Obstructions (Trees, leaning walls, etc.)
    • Sidewalks in need of immediate repair (City will be replacing all sidewalks in next five years)
    • Adequate trash cans, especially around schools and businesses
    • Inadequate handicapped access
