SITE DESCRIPTION

From East West Highway (Riverdale Park) south to Northwest Branch Trail (North Brentwood). High traffic volume, fast drivers, no shoulder, poor quality sidewalks. No other good N-S connection thru east Hyattsville. Going south on Rt. 1 from Hyattsville towards D.C. has wider shoulders and is easier than going north thru town towards College Park. Trees and shrubs are not well maintained on Rt. 1 south in Brentwood. Drainage "grates" just south of MD 410 are holes that eat bikes. We generally avoid but not always an option. We wish it could be wider, have a shoulder, or bike lanes.

RECOMMENDATIONS

• Develop Trolley Trail as a alternative bicycle route (1 block east)
• Missing sidewalks on south end near Charles Armentrout Drive (both sides).
